Funeral services for Lela M. Ward, 83, East Moline, are 11 AM Monday at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, East Moline. Burial is in Rock Island National Cemetery. Visitation is from 9am until service time. A memorial fund has been established. Lela died Thursday, December 10, 2009 at Park View Terrace, East Moline. She was born on April 5, 1926 in Ray, IL, the daughter of Homer and Bertha (Lincoln) Skiles. She married Marcus J. Ward on March 16, 1946 in Rushville. He died January 13, 1990. Lela had worked at the former F.W. Means. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Lela enjoyed listening to music and her little dog Bobo. Survivors include her children; Crystal Hast, Port Byron, Sandra Ward, Peoria Heights, Rick Ward, East Moline, Michael Ward, San Jose, CA, Steven Ward, San Jose and Mark Ward, Moline, seven grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, sisters; Hilli Walters, Oquaka, IL and Dorothy Lang, Geneseo and a brother Robert Skiles, Oquaka. She is preceded in death by her husband, sister Mildred Gillenwater and brothers Jesse Skiles and Lyle Skiles.
