Funeral services for Leon "Lee" Simoens, 87, of East Moline, IL, will be 10:00 AM Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, East Moline, IL. Entombment will be in St. Mary's Mausoleum, East Moline IL. Visitation will be 3-7 Tuesday (Today) at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, IL, where a rosary will be recited at 6:30PM. Lee died Sunday, April 30, 2006 in East Moline, IL. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Fund or St. Mary's Catholic Church, East Moline. Lee was born August 30, 1918 in Silvis, IL, the son of Achiel and Marie (DeDonker) Simoens. He married Vada Ryan, October 31, 1942 in Kahoka, MO. She died January 8, 2006. He retired from John Deere Plow Planter, Moline, IL, after 33 years of service. He had also worked many years for Stoney VanderBeke at Silvis Liquors. He was a member of Hand in Hand Bolders' Club, Friends Circle Club, and the East End Social Club. He enjoyed playing cards, playing rolle-bolle, and gardening. He had golfed in the John Deere Golf League for many years. Lee was an accomplished rolle-bolle player, winning many championships over the years. Survivors include: daughters and son-in-law, Sandra Simoens of Silvis, IL, Stephanie and Michael Smith of Milan, IL; grandchildren, Richard II, Robert, Michael and Kristine Moller, Kelle Hunter, Timothy Smith; great grandchildren, Meagan, Richard III, Samantha, Sterling, Jace and Madison Moller, Spencer and Logan Hunter, Daniel and Isaac Smith; brother, Emil Simoens of Clinton, IA; sister-in-law, Vivian Simoens of Silvis, IL.
