Funeral services for Leonard G. "Len" Ballegeer, 77, of Silvis, IL, will be 10:00 AM Wednesday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, IL. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery, Moline, IL. Visitation will be 4:00-7:00 PM Tuesday at the funeral home. Mr. Ballegeer died Sunday, April 13, 2008 at Illini Restorative Care Center, Silvis, IL. Memorials may be made to the family. Len was born July 21, 1930 in Moline, IL, the son of Urbaan and Goldie (Callewaert) Ballegeer. He served in the US Army during WWII. He married Marian Nelson May 5, 1950 in Moline. He retired from John Deere Harvester, East Moline in 1978, after 33 years of service. He loved to garden and play rolle bolle. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. His grandchildren were his pride and joy. He had been a member of the Silvis United Methodist Church, Silvis and the East End Boldlers Club, Moline, and the Hand in Hand Rolle Bolle Club. Survivors include: his wife of 57 years, Marian Ballegeer of Silvis; his daughter and fiancé, Sandy Hanson and Mark Hoopes of Muscatine, IA; granddaughters (spouse), Nichole (Ricky) Bates of Huntsville, AL, Ashley Hanson of Davenport, IA; great grandchildren, Aubrey, Gabriella, and Noah; brothers and sisters-in-law, Francis and Marilyn Ballegeer of East Moline, Donald and Nancy Ballegeer of Eau Claire, WI. He is preceded in death by his parents, daughters, Sharon Ballegeer and Marcia Stoner, sister, Catherine and brothers, Edward and Robert.
