Leonard F. Schulte, 85, East Moline, passed away Thursday, February 18, 2021 at Genesis Illini, Silvis. Private funeral services will be live streamed Saturday (today) at 12:30pm by logging into http://www.facebook.com/vanhoefuneralhome Entombment will be in St. Mary's Mausoleum, East Moline, IL. Len was born on November 18, 1935 in Moline, the son of Floyd and Helen (Vroman) Schulte. He was a graduate of St. Anne Grade School and Alleman High School. He married Nancy Korb on January 19, 1957 at St. Anne Catholic Church, East Moline. Len started working at age 11 as a paperboy carrying the East Moline Herald. By age 15 he started working for Robert Harper at the Herald and eventually became owner operator, retiring in 1993. He was a long time member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Silvis. He loved fishing and was an avid Chicago Cub's fan. Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Nancy, children; Jean (Jeff) Yerkey, Mary (Dan) DuPrey, John (Linda) Schulte, and Ron (Cindy) Schulte: grandchildren, Jennifer (Randy) Roth, Sean Yerkey, Kyle (Amanda) DuPrey, Evan DuPrey, Kari (Jeremy) Froneberger, Lindsey (John) Remus and Jonathan Schulte (Madison Severtsgaard); great grandchildren, Christian (Alyssa), Dalton (Minna), Devon, Caitlin, Brayden, Phoenix, Benjamin, Ava, Luke, Alyvia, and Ayden; great-great granddaughters, Caroline and Macie; brother, Larry (Judy) Schulte; sister-in-law, Bobbi Petersen; lifelong friends, John (Carole) Van Hoe. He was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Erin Castens; and brother-in-law, LeRoy Petersen.
