Funeral services for Leonard E. Suhr, 81, of Coal Valley, IL, will be 10 am Monday at St. Anne Catholic Church, East Moline, IL. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation will be 5-7 pm Sunday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, IL. Mr. Suhr passed away Tuesday March 8, 2022, at Genesis Silvis.
Leonard was born June 30, 1940, in East Moline, the son of Martin and Anne (DeDoncker) Suhr. He was a graduate of United Township High School Class of 1958. He married Phyllis J. Anderson September 27, 1959, at Watertown Baptist Church, East Moline. She passed away May 28, 2013. Leonard worked and managed the Wareco Service Station on the corner of 19th street and 18th ave East Moline from 1956-1999. He was an active member and past president of the East End Bolders Club, Moline, an active member of the Hand-n-Hand Rolle Bolle Club, and the Belgium American Brotherhood. He was instrumental in putting in the rolle bolle courts behind Wareco and also the courts at Empire Park.
He enjoyed playing cards and Ten Pin Bowling.
Survivors include his children, Ken (Cathy) Suhr, Decatur, IL, Leroy (Crystel) Suhr, Williamsburg, IA, Karen (Mike) Motley, Coal Valley, and Carl (Dawn) Suhr, Colona, IL; 16 grandchildren; and 26 great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wife; and brother, Carl Suhr.
Memorial may be made to the family for a rolle bolle tournament in Leonard's honor.
