Funeral services for LeRoy "Roy" Schultz, 94, of Silvis, IL, will be 10 am Monday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Silvis, IL. Burial will be in Rock Island National Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-4 pm Sunday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd, where a rosary will be recited at 1 pm. Mr. Schultz died Wednesday, December 18, 2019, at Genesis Silvis. Roy w12as born December 19, 1924, in Moline, IL, the son of Harry and Lunette Schulte Schultz. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corp for 3 years during WWII, serving 16 of those months in the South Pacific. After the war he served in the Air Force Reserve for an additional 3 years. He married Betty J. Hart November 15, 1947, at St. Anne Catholic Church, East Moline. He retired from Electronic Data Systems Corporation in 1989. He was a member of American Legion Post 227 East Moline where he was active with the Honor Guard. He was also a life member of East Moline Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 256. He had been a volunteer at Illini Hospital for many years. Survivors include his wife of 72 years, Betty; daughter, Gail (Dan) Turf, East Moline; son, Bruce (Connie) Schultz, East Moline; daughter-in-law, Denise Schultz, West Des Moines, IA; 8 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; siblings; Fred (Shirley) Schultz, Silvis, Russ (Gayle) Schultz, Silvis, and Laura (Tom) Visconi, East Moline. He was preceded in death by his parents, infant daughter, Linda, and son, Dennis Schultz. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital or to Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.
