Leslie A. Schotka, 89, East Moline, passed away on Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at his home. Funeral services are 10 AM Monday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Entombment is in St. Mary's Mausoleum. Visitation is 2-5 PM Sunday at the funeral home, where a rosary will be recited at 1:30. Memorials may be made to WVIK. Leslie was born July 13, 1929 in Estherville, IA, the son of Frank and Ethereal (Palmer) Schotka Sr. He married Theresa DeTaeye on February 14, 1953 in East Moline. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He retired in 1991 from the former Case IH after 43 years. He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Silvis and the UAW Local 1304. Leslie was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and enjoyed watching College football and NHRA drag racing. He was a railroad enthusiast, and enjoyed attending his monthly Local 1304 retirees meals at the Maid-Rite. Mr. Schotka was a devoted husband and provider for his family. Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Theresa, their children, Kathleen (Tom) Davis, Lonetree, IA, Linda (Drake) Johnson, Deerfield, IL, Mary Scott, East Moline, Ann (Al) Schneider, Petersburg, IL and Martin Schotka, Silvis, ten grandchildren (including special "helpful" granddaughter Leslie (David) Anderson, Viola), twelve great grandchildren (including special great grandchildren, Ashley and Zachary Anderson), 2 great-great grandchildren and his brother, Frank Schotka Jr., Scottsdale, AZ.
