Funeral services for Lester G. Bohnert, 85, of East Moline, IL, will be 1:00 PM Monday at St. Anne Catholic Church, East Moline, IL. Entombment will be in St. Mary's Mausoleum, East Moline, IL. Visitation will be 5-8 PM Sunday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, IL, where a rosary will be recited at 7:30 PM. Mr. Bohnert passed away Friday, July 28, 2006 at Heartland Health Care Center, Moline, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Monsignor William Cleary Endowment Fund. Lester was born March 15, 1921 in East Moline, IL, the son of August and Helena (Schulte) Bohnert. He married Eva Elvera Sundine on January 27, 1942 in East Moline, IL. She passed away on June 14, 2005. Mr. Bohnert was a tool and die maker, retiring from John Deere Harvester on March 31, 1987. He served in the United States Army during WWII in the European Theater and was a member of the East Moline VFW Post 2056. He was a life long member of St. Anne Catholic Church where he was past Chief Ranger of The Catholic Order of Foresters. Lester and Elvera raised a family of eight, seven of whom survive. Survivors include: daughters and sons-in-law, Pat and Darrel Liedtke of East Moline, IL, Beverly and Edward Stoneburg of Mount Zion, IL, Theresa and John Bull of East Moline, IL; sons and daughters-in-law, John and Georgia Bohnert of Urbana, OH, Jim and Wanda Bohnert of East Moline, IL, Ted and Marci Bohnert of Erie, IL, Lester and Becky Bohnert of East Moline, IL; son-in-law, Wayne Reeter of Southside AL; 25 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Leona Bohnert of Aitkin MN, sister-in-law, Ruby Bohnert of Silvis, IL; aunt Aline Sheley of East Moline, IL. He is preceded in death by his: wife, Elvera; daughter, Betty Reeter; parents, sisters, Lorine Tvarkunas and Lynn DeCastecker; brothers, Glenn and Robert Bohnert. The family would like to extend a special thank you to all the girls in the Arcadia Unit, and Steve, for their wonderful care of our father.
