Funeral services for Lester "Les" Granell, 93, of East Moline, IL, will be 10:00 AM Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, East Moline. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, East Moline. Visitation will be 4:00-7:00 PM Wednesday at the funeral home, where a prayer service will be held at 7:00PM. Mr. Granell died Monday, April 21, 2008. Memorials may be made St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Les was born May 25, 1914 in Worthington, MN, the son of Eric and Cora (Chillberg) Granell. He married Julia Prosen January 8, 1938 in East Moline. He had served in the US Navy as a Seabee during WWII, in the South Pacific. He had worked as a foreman for John Deere Harvester and Spreader Works, retiring in 1973 after 37 years of service. He enjoyed fishing and traveling. Survivors include: his wife, Julia Granell; son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Judy Granell of Moline, IL; grandchildren (spouse), Tonica (Scott) Roman, Dawn Granell, and Michael Granell; 7 great grandchildren.
