Funeral services for Lidia Mendoza de Oliva, 70, of East Moline, IL, will be 1:30 PM Saturday at St. Anne Catholic Church, East Moline. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, East Moline. Visitation will be 3-8 PM Friday (today) at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd, East Moline, where a rosary will be recited at 2PM. Mrs. Oliva died Wednesday, February 25, 2009 at Trinity Medical Center, West Campus, Rock Island, IL. Memorials may be made to the family. Lidia Mendoza was born July 1, 1938 in Nuevo Laredo, Tamps., Mexico, the daughter of Jesus and Jesusa (Cervantes) Mendoza. She married Jose Tristan-Oliva January 8, 1961 in Nuevo Laredo, She had been a caring, loving, and nurturing wife, mother and grandmother. She was humorous, courageous, compassionate, a devoted catholic, and family oriented. She enjoyed singing, dancing, playing loteria with her family, and going to the casino with her husband. Survivors include: her husband, Jose Oliva of East Moline; daughters and sons-in-law, Delia Castro, Graciela Figueroa, Anna Berta Marquina, Hilda Lidia and Carlos Alvarado, and Mirta Elisa and Rogelio Jaramillo all of East Moline; grandchildren, Lorina Guadalupe Castro, Jessica Otilia Castro (Sergio Ortiz), Melinda Rosa Aguilera, Adriana Lysette Aguilera, Juan Manuel Figueroa Jr., Josue Moises Marquina, Jose Javier Marquina, Michael Alexander Marquina, Victor Javier Alvarado, Daniel Enrique Alvarado, David Alex Alvarado, Rogelio Jaramillo Jr., and Natalie Mercedes Jaramillo; great grandchildren, Jesus Jamie Ortiz and Jisela Lidia Ortiz; sisters, Maria de la Luz Mendoza de Garcia of Nuevo Laredo, Esperanza Mendoza de Carreon of San Antonio, TX, Anita Mendoza of Nuevo Laredo; brothers, Juan Jesus Mendoza of Laredo, TX, Miguel Angel Mendoza of Nuevo Laredo.
