Funeral services for Lila J. Gargano, 84, Colona, are 10 AM Thursday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Colona. Entombment is on St. Mary's Mausoleum, East Moline. Visitation is 5-8PM Wednesday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, where a liturgy service will be recited at 7:30PM. Memorials may be made to St. Patrick's Church, or to the American Cancer Society. Lila died Sunday, September 6, 2009 at her home. She was born June 5, 1925 in Moline, the daughter of James and Elsie (Wallgast) Bledsoe. She married Angelo Gargano on August 3, 1944 in Rock Island. The two of them owned and operated the Made-Rite in Colona for 25 years until 1990. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church. She enjoyed baking for her family, playing cards and bingo. Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Angelo, children and spouses; Richard and Joyce Gargano of Phoenix, AZ, Sue and Don Abel, Colona and Pat and Lee Johnson, Colona, eight grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, her sister Evelyn Smallwood, Colona and her loving dog, Holly.
