Funeral services for Lillian Whitmer, 96, formerly of East Moline, IL, and most recently of the Lighthouse, Silvis, IL, will be 10:00AM Saturday at Christ the King Catholic Church, Moline. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, East Moline. Visitation will be 4:00-7:00 PM Friday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, where a rosary will be recited at 3:30PM. Mrs. Whitmer died Monday, December 17, 2012 at Genesis Hospital, Illini Campus, Silvis, IL. Memorials may be made to Christ the King Catholic Church. Lillian Coopman was born December 2, 1916 in Moline, IL, the daughter of August and Ursla De Martlear Coopman. She married Chester Whitmer in 1948 in Chicago, IL. He died October 23, 2004. She had been a loving homemaker. She enjoyed gardening and flowers. She became a member of Christ The King Catholic Church after St. Mary's Catholic Church, East Moline closed, and had been involved at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Silvis, and St. Anne Catholic Church, East Moline. She was a member of the Eagles Club. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Robert Tiemier of Silvis, IL; sons and daughters-in-law, Harold and Cathy Whitmer, FL, Gary and Marianne Whitmer, East Moline, Larry and Sandy Whitmer, East Moline, IL; 12 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, infant daughter, son, Carrol Whitmer, 4 sisters, 2 brothers, and 4 half brothers.
