LJ Sanders, 82, Colona, passed away on Saturday, January 28, 2012 at Genesis Medical Center-Illini Campus,Silvis. Funeral services are 11 AM Tuesday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Burial is in Dayton Corners Cemetery, Colona. Visitation is 1 hour prior to services. A memorial fund has been established. LJ was born August 6, 1929 in Winfield AL, the son of Clarence and Lela (Franks) Sanders. He married Wanda Prescott on May 13, 1950 in Fulton, MS. LJ worked as a concrete mason with Local 544, retiring in 1987 after 30 years with the trade. He enjoyed gardening, fishing and camping. Survivors include his wife of 61 years Wanda, son and daughter-in-law Gary "Randy" and Marsha Sanders, seven grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren, sisters Edith Gardner, Sikeston, MO and Judy Eddy, Rockford, IL and a brother Julius Sanders, Winfield, AL. He is preceded in death by his daughter Brenda Schiess, a great-grandson and brothers, Mack, Junior and Lecil.
