Lloyd V. Staab, 92, of East Moline, Illinois, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, November 8, 2025.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at Divine Mercy Parish at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Silvis, IL. Entombment will follow in St. Mary's Mausoleum, East Moline. Visitation is scheduled for Friday, November 14, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline, where a Rosary will be recited at 3:00 PM.
Born on March 20, 1933, in Chillicothe, Illinois, Lloyd was the son of John and Nellie Marie Ziegler Staab. He was a proud graduate of the United Township High School Class of 1951. Upon graduation, he honorably served his country in the U.S. Army with the 25th Infantry Division during the Korean Conflict. Lloyd married his high school sweetheart, Marilyn Cuvele, on May 21, 1955, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, East Moline. They shared 70 wonderful years of marriage. He was employed at the John Deere Harvester Works for 31 years, retiring as the Night Superintendent. He was proud to say he had carried out a personally significant milestone of being retired longer than his active employment. In retirement, he and Marilyn enjoyed their summers at their beloved Golden Pond in Northern Minnesota.
Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Marilyn Staab; his children, Jeff Staab, and Jayne (Jim) Field; and his cherished grandchildren, Julia (Jake) Valente, and Captain (USMC) Joe (Riley) Field. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Irwin Staab. In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials may be made to Divine Mercy Parish at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church or Hand in Hand, 3860 Middle Rd, Bettendorf, IA.
