Obituary

Memorial services for Lloyd D. Strohm, 93, of Moline, IL, formerly of Bettendorf, IA, and Port Aransas, TX, will be 10am Saturday, July 17, 2021, at First Presbyterian Church, East Moline, IL The service will be held outdoors on the church lawn. Military honors will be provided by the East Moline American Legion Post 227. Burial will be in Rock Island National Cemetery. Mr. Strohm passed away peacefully Saturday April 10, 2021, at his home.

Lloyd was born February 1, 1928, in Clinton, IA, the son of Frank and Agnes (Nelson) Strohm. He served in the U.S. Navy During WWII as a Communication Specialist 3rd Class, stationed in Alaska and Puerto Rico. He married Dorothy "Dottie" Roeh June 28, 1952, in Bettendorf, IA. She passed away January 30, 2017. Lloyd started working at Frank Foundries as a CPA, he later became President and then CEO. He and his wife loved traveling with family and friends and cherished their retirement years in Port Aransas, TX. One of Lloyds greatest joys was being a volunteer at the Texas State Aquarium. He enjoyed fishing, bread baking, and singing. He was member of the Lions Club, AICPA, and an active member of Bettendorf Presbyterian Church, Bettendorf, IA, serving as an Elder and helping with Stewardship and Sessions . In their later years when returning to the Quad Cities they joined First Presbyterian Church, East Moline, IL.

Survivors include his children, Tara Lynn Strohm Denver, CO, John David (Mary Pat Link ) Strohm, Denver, and Nina S. (Dr. John) Golden, Moline, IL; foster children, Steve (Cheryl) Manning, Maquoketa, IA, and Steven "Jay" Johnson, Phoenix, AZ; grandchildren, Kristin Strohm (Josh Penry), Matt (Cara) Strohm, Kelly (Reid) Galbraith, Claire Strohm, Dr. Ryan Golden (Dr. Alexandra), Dr. Ben Golden (Jamie Grivas), Ian Golden, and Zachary Strohm (Amy); great grandchildren, Chase, Emme, Sophie, Caroline Penry, Lincoln Strohm, Grace and Leighton Galbraith, Henry and Jack Strohm, and Eleanor Rose Golden; sister, Shirley Mullins, Yellow Spring, OH; brother-in-law, Ed Smith, Bettendorf, IA; and special caregiver, Yukari Carillo.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and siblings, Frank, Albert, Paul, Barney, Alice, Marion, Donny, and Eugene.

Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church, East Moline.
