Lois "Elaine" DeDecker passed away on August 19, 2022 at Park Vista Assisted Living, East Moline. Visitation for friends and family will be 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 27, at Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline. Following visitation there will be a private family funeral service. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline.

Elaine was born October 2, 1934, in Hannibal, MO, daughter of Virgil and Lucille (Kizer) Cary. She grew up in Silvis, IL and was a graduate of United Township High School, class of 1952. On April 21, 1956, she married Arthur DeDecker at St. Anne's Catholic Church, East Moline. They divorced and later remarried again in Lake Tahoe, NV. They later divorced again.

Elaine worked as a Data Librarian for Deere & Co. retiring in 1997 after 35 years. Elaine began her career at Deere in 1957. After taking time off to start her family she rejoined Deere as a key punch operator in 1966. As the computer center grew, so did Elaine's responsibilities within the company. After retiring, Elaine enjoyed her annual trips to Florida with her very special friend, Jerry Sivertsen and daily walks with her best friend and next door neighbor, Shirleen Brackevelt.

Survivors include her daughters, Melanie (Tim) Johnson, Le Claire, IA and Melissa Nunn, East Moline; grandchildren Vanessa (Christopher) Schweiger, Aaron Johnson (Danielle James), Bethany (Alvino) Carbajal, Jordan (Lexi) Nunn; great grandchildren Hadley and Harvey Schweiger, Ezra, Joaquin, and Maya Carbajal, and Hudson Nunn; sister-in-law, MaryKay Cary, and 4 nieces and 3 nephews, and their families.

Elaine is preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Patricia Ellison, William Cary and Kenneth Cary; and sister-in-law Louise Cary Hellstrom.
