Loren E. Keefer, 88, East Moline, died Monday, March 28, 2005 at Rosewood Care Center, Moline. Loren was born, October 14, 1916 in Green Valley, IL, the son of Warren and Clara (Reed) Keefer. He married Mildred Gregersen, March 7, 1942 at Baton Rouge, LA. Loren received his BS at the University of Illinois. Loren was a WWII Air Force Veteran serving in the European Theater, England, Africa, and Italy. Mr. Keefer taught Agriculture, was a banker and most recently was a Rehabilitation Counselor with the Kentucky Department of Education, retiring in 1984. Loren served eleven years on the East Moline Grade School Board. He served on as Chairman of the Finance Committee and was a member of the Building Committee at Ocala West United Methodist Church, Ocala, FL. He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, East Moline. He and his wife lived in East Moline until 1970 when they moved to Frankfort, KY until 1989 when they moved to Ocala, FL. In 1999 the returned to East Moline. Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Mildred, East Moline, children and spouses Janet and Dennis Griffin, Moline, Joy and Jeff Freiburg, East Moline, and Jean and Wayne Henning, Frankfort, KY, grandchildren; Jill and Steve Zobrist, Andrew Griffin and Lindsay Ammerman, Kyle and MacKenzie Griffin, Ellen Freiburg and Bryan Thorndyke, Claire Freiburg, Allyson and Lance McMillin, and Matthew Henning, great grandchildren; Alissa, Abigail, and Aaron Zobrist, Ryver and Henna Griffin, Eric Thorndyke, Caroline and Keefer McMillin. His parents, brother Clair Keefer, and a sister Lois Beach precede him in death. A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Christ United Methodist Church, East Moline or Genesis Hospice. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.vanhoe.com
