Obituary

Funeral services for Louis D. Viscioni, 99, of East Moline, IL, will be 10:00AM Wednesday at St. Anne Catholic Church, East Moline. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, East Moline. Visitation will be 4:00-7:00PM Tuesday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, where a rosary will be recited at 4:00PM. Mr. Viscioni died Saturday, December 1, 2012 at Good Samaritan Village, Geneseo, IL. In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials may be made to the Good Samaritan Village Activity Fund. Louis was born May 2, 1913 in Moline, IL, the son of Emidio Dominick and Barbara Fidanza Viscioni. During the 1930's, he had been a Silver Gloves Boxing Champion and an active member of the Viscioni Tigers Boxing Club. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He married Elsie M. Janssens February 23, 1946 in Rock Island, IL. She died May 31, 1991. He retired from John Deere Harvester Works, East Moline, in 1971, after 35 years of service. Louis was active in his community. He had served as 4th Ward Alderman in East Moline for 16 years. He had been a member of the East Moline American LegionPost 227 and it's Honor Guard, AMVETS, Catholic Order of Foresters, Fraternal Order of Eagles, Moline Boulders Club, and UAW Local 865. He enjoyed bowling, rolle bolle, and working jigsaw puzzles. He had been a proud member of the former St. Mary's Catholic Church, East Moline. Survivors include his daughters, Patricia (Ron) Thompson, Colona, and Michelle Viscioni, East Moline; sons, Thomas (Laura) Viscioni, East Moline, and Gerald (Diana) Viscioni, East Moline; grandchildren, Michael (Lia) Hanson, Heather (Joe) Sullivan, and Anthony (Yvonne) Viscioni; great-grandchildren, Jeremiah and Leandra Viscioni and Colin Hanson; 5 nieces; many great nieces and nephews; and special care giver, Jan DeCap. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, daughter, Barbara, grandson, Ronald Viscioni, sisters, Anne DeMeyer and Mary Mueller, brother, Albert "Bert" Viscioni, 2 nephews and a niece.
