IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Louise Mary
Perez
May 15, 1926 – December 30, 2007
Louise Perez, 81, Coal Valley, peacefully entered into eternal life on Sunday, December 30, 2007, at Pathway Hospice, Terrace Park, Bettendorf, after a short, but courageous battle with cancer. Funeral services will be 10 am Thursday at St. Anne's Catholic Church, East Moline. Burial is in St. Mary's Cemetery, East Moline. Visitation is 3 - 7pm Wednesday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, where a rosary will be recited at 6:30pm. Louise Powell was born May 15, 1926 in Chicago, the daughter of John and Rose (Aguirre) Powell. She met and fell in love with Adolph Perez, who she married June 7, 1942 in Chicago. After 10 years and three little boys, they found their way to East Moline, where they settled down and opened their first restaurant, the "El Sombrero", added a daughter, then reinvented their business again and again, until it became Adolph's Mexican Foods. Louise was a fabulous cook, there's no doubt about that. She was so full of life and such a beautiful person inside and out. She loved to dance. Adolph and Louise was quite the dancing couple, back in the day. Sadly, Adolph passed away April 9, 2000. She was a devoted wife and mother, who loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was always ready to befriend the lonely and to help the needy. She strongly supported the military, as if she had a personal connection to each and every one of them that was in harms way. She loved them all. She continued to work until September of this year, when her yet to be discovered illness, started draining her of her strength. There were so many special customers that she truly missed seeing, but her weakness and pain kept her at home. She touched so many lives with her smile and compassion, I know there are many hearts weeping for her on this day and in the coming days. She was and still is a blessing from above. Left to cherish her memory are her children and spouses: Frank Perez, Moline; John and Carole Perez, Moline; Joe and Sue Perez, Coal Valley; Bob and Leslie Carter, Coal Valley; 14 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren plus one on the way; a brother Carlos Cerna, Odgen, Utah. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother John DeCerno, sisters May DeCerno and Marie McGowen. Memorials may be made to Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
