Funeral services for Lowell "Eugene" Ricke, 82, East Moline, are 10 AM Friday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Burial is in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline, where the East Moline American Legion Post 227 will conduct Military Honors. Visitation is 4-7PM Thursday at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established. Gene died Monday, June 13, 2011 at his home. He was born March 14, 1929 in Greensburg, IN, the son of Leo and Luella Buell Ricke. He married Barbara AmRhein on July 23, 1948 in Carrolton, KY. She died January 23, 1996. Gene retired from John Deere Harvester, East Moline as a punch press operator. He loved his time with family, going fishing and dancing. After retirement he had a lawn service for many years. Mr. Ricke served in the US Army during WWII. Survivors include his children; Theresa (Bill) Church, Coal Valley, Luann Morelock, Edwards, IL and Patrick Ricke, East Moline, daughter-in-law LuAnn Ricke, Costa Mesa, CA, thirteen grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, very special friend Jennie Elbers, Rock Island, IL, sisters; Mary Overman, Sarasota, FL, and Marilyn Jo Einhaus, Batesville, IN and brothers; Paul Ricke, Greensburg, IN and Steve Ricke, Galatin, TN. He is preceded in death by his wife, his parents, sons; William and Ronald Lee, a grandson and eight brothers and sisters.
