Obituary

Loy V. Wood , 84, of Colona, IL, passed away Thursday, July 31, 2025, at New Perspectives, Silvis, IL.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, August 4th, at Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline, IL, with visitation one hour prior to services Monday. Burial will be at Dayton Corners Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family to be designated later.

Loy was born October 17, 1940, in Everton, Arkansas, a son of Rev. Carl and Barbara (Hall) Wood. He married Jacqueline "Jackie" Stanek on December 20, 1958, in East Moline, IL. She preceded him in death on August 21, 2024.

He was employed for 33 years with John Deere Plow Planter. Following his retirement, he then was a truck driver for several years.

Loy was a member of Bethel Church, Rock Island where he had served as church treasurer, and the Christian Motorcyclists Association. He enjoyed traveling with Jackie and family, visiting 49 states, motorcycling, and in earlier years, coaching football.

He will be lovingly remembered as a devoted husband, dad, and Papa Loy to his grandchildren. Some of his favorite times were those spent with family and friends, especially his grandchildren, whom he adored. He will be greatly missed by all.

Those left to behind to cherish his memory include his children, Marilyn (Bill) Kutzman, Tamera (Denny) Bartz, and Mylon Wood, all of Colona; grandchildren, Brandon (Jennifer) Bartz, Trista (Danny) Smith, Achiel (Michael) Lister, Morgan (Justin) Melford, Ryan  (Tanner) Wood, and Ethan Wood; great grandchildren, Izabella, Braxton, Eliza, Paisley, Zuri, and Brayah; siblings, Imodell (Elmer) Stewart, Nell (Jim) Warner, and Gay (Lew) Rees, all of Arkansas; and many nieces, nephews, and other family.

Loy was preceded in death by his wife Jackie; parents, Carl and Barbara; and siblings, Vernon Wood, Willodean Sullivan, Freida Sharp, Travis Wood, and Larry Mitchell Wood.
