Lucille F. Gelande, 94, formerly of Hampton, passed away on Wednesday, February 11, 2015 at Rosewood Care Center, Moline. Funeral services are 10 AM Saturday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Burial is in Hampton Township Cemetery, Hampton. Visitation is 4-7 PM Friday (Today) at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established. Lucille was born on June 20, 1920 in Silvis, the daughter of Virgil and Henrietta (Kleuver) Oltman. She married Emil Gelande on December 24, 1938 in Rock Island. He died December 24, 2001. In earlier years, Lucille had worked at the former Buddy L. Toy Company, Moline, and John Deere Malleable during WWII. She had been a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Hampton. Lucille enjoyed bingo, playing cards, reading and bowling. She was a die-hard Chicago Cubs fan and truly enjoyed attending her grandchildren's and great-grandchildren's sporting events. Survivors include her children Steve (Kathy) Gelande, Hampton, and Betty Harker, Hampton, eight grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren and a brother James (Janet) Oltman, Hampton. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, a granddaughter, and her sister Betty Maze. The family would like to thank the staff of Genesis Hospice and Rosewood for the exceptional care shown to Lucille.
