Funeral services for Lucy Martin, 92, Silvis, are 11 AM Monday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Burial is in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation is 1 hour prior to services. Lucy passed away on Tuesday, October 5, 2010 at Illini Restorative Care, Silvis. Memorials may be made to the Silvis Library. Lucy was born February 7, 1918 in Muscatine, IA, the daughter of Leonard and Sarah Emlet Sissel. She married Raymond Martin on February 10, 1936 in Muscatine. He preceded her in death on July 7, 1974. Lucy retired in 1979 from the Recorder of Deeds office at the Rock Island Courthouse after 14 years of service. Lucy loved to read and write. She was always writing letters to friends and family. She had a special way with words and was an excellent story teller. She was a member of the Democratic Party, and a member of the Silvis United Methodist Church. Lucy was a humanitarian. Survivors include her daughter Vivian Lodico, Silvis, son and daughter-in-law Steve and Shirley Martin of Waco, TX, grandchildren and spouses; Sara and Scott Schaab, Richard Martin, John and Jana Martin, Marvin and Erika Platt, William Platt, Allison and Joel Ryser, Corey and Amy Lodico, and Collin and Melinda Lodico, thirteen great-grandchildren, brothers and sisters-in-law; Arthur and Virginia Sissel, Muscatine, and Richard and Sharon Sissel, Winterset, IA and a sister and brother-in-law, Bonnie and Earl Rhode, Muscatine. She is preceded in death by her husband, son Marvin Martin, daughter Diana Platt, a brother Vernon Sissel and her parents. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.vanhoe.com
