Luisa Hott (nee Maria Luisa Zanin), 98, will be honored with a Celebration of Life service 10:30 am Saturday at First Christian Church, East Moline, after passing away Monday, January 2nd at her daughter's home in Aurora, Colorado. Visitation will be one hour prior to services Saturday at the church. Burial will be in Moline Memorial Park Cemetery, Moline. Luisa was born May 15, 1918, in Venice, Italy. She married Charles Hott (Charley) on July 31, 1946, in Livorno, Italy. She immigrated to the United States and initially resided in Oxford, Ohio, for three years while Charles completed his undergraduate studies and then relocated to East Moline, IL. Luisa worked at Moline Public Hospital as a nurse's aide for several years until the birth of her son, James, and then her daughter, Mary. Luisa was a lifelong member of First Christian Church of East Moline, where she was active in quilting, knitting, and cooking for various events. She was also responsible for landscaping and flower boxes that would be filled with beautiful blooms every year. Luisa loved life and her family. She moved to Aurora, Colorado in 2011 to live with her daughter, Mary. Shortly afterwards she suffered a massive stroke. Even after her stroke, she managed to cruise around the home with her walker to supervise the daily schedule and spend time with her loved ones. She is survived by her daughter, Mary (Ken) Anderson; granddaughters Emily (Adam) Melnick and Elizabeth Losoff; great granddaughter, Jenevieve Losoff. Luisa was preceded in death by her husband Charles, her son James, and her sister Palmira Pizzoglio.
