Lupe Martel, 94, East Moline, passed away on Monday, June 22, 2015 at Riverwood, East Moline. Funeral services are 10 AM Saturday at St. Anne Catholic Church, East Moline. Burial is in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation is 5-8PM Friday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, where a rosary will be recited at 4:30 PM. A memorial fund has been established. Lupe Duenos was born on January 16, 1921 in Mason City, IA, the daughter of David and Delfina (Hernandez) Duenos. Lupe loved her family dearly and worked very hard to take care of them. She had worked at the former East Moline State Hospital, Fresh Pak Candies, Moline, Servus Rubber, The Ice Cream Palace and even ran her own restaurant, the Spanish Oaks, Milan. She enjoyed crocheting, gardening and cooking. Survivors include her children, Max, Michael Martel, Rock Island, and Ruth Ann (Ray) Hart, East Moline, grandsons, Dr. Matthew Hart, Bryan Martel, Brett Hart and David Martel, eight grandchildren and brother David Duenos. She was preceded in death by her parents, son Jon Martel and sister Teresa Ketchum.
