Lupe R. Terronez, age 91, of LaGrange Park, Illinois, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, August 23, 2025. Born on February 17, 1934, in Silvis, Illinois, Lupe was the beloved daughter of Felipe and Albina Rivera Terronez. She spent many years working at Marshall Field's before being employed by the city of Chicago at O'Hare airport, and later the Chicago Park District, where she dedicated herself to serving the community. Lupe will be remembered as a warm and loving presence in the lives of her family and friends. She cherished time spent with her nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, and she delighted in family celebrations. Lupe had a passion for travel, exploring both the United States and Europe, and she brought joy to gatherings with her humor and her spirited tradition of sneaking in a bottle of tequila. She is survived by her sister, Cecilia (Don) Raischel of Moline, Illinois; her sister-in-law, Florence Terronez of Lisle, Illinois; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews across the country. Lupe was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Alice Gamino; brothers, Frank, Anthony, David, Juan, and Albert; and nephews, John, Vincent, Michael, and Raphael Terronez. Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 13, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline, Illinois. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in East Moline. Memorial contributions may be made in Lupe's honor to the American Cancer Society. Lupe's warmth, kindness, and love for family and friends will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew her.
