Obituary

Funeral services for Luz Segura, 86, of Moline, IL, will be 10:00AM Saturday at St. Anne Catholic Church, East Moline, IL. Entombment will be in St. Mary's Mausoleum, East Moline. Visitation will be 4:00-7:00 PM Friday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, where a rosary will be recited at 6:30 PM. Mr. Segura died Wednesday, August 12, 2009 at Hope Creek Care Center, East Moline. Memorials may be made to St. Anne Catholic Church, East Moline. Mr. Segura was born November 15, 1922 in Dodge City, KS, the son of Rosendo Segura. He married Lupe C. Savala June 30, 1951 in Sacred Heart Cathedral, Davenport, IA. She died April 6, 2002. He served in the US Army during WWII. He was a Normandy Beach Survivor as well as Omaha Beach and the Battle of the Bulge. He participated in the Liberation of Paris and had earned 5 battle stars. He had been a devoted husband and father. He enjoyed watching the cubs on TV and walking his three dogs. Survivors include his sons and daughter-in-law, William Segura of Davenport, Kim and Lisa Segura of Fort Worth, TX, Bob Segura of Moline, IL; grandsons, Bronson and Austin, Segura of Fort Worth; great grandson, Jazz Louis Segura who was born August 12, 2009 the day his great grandpa died; sister, Connie Martinez of Denver, CO; brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Irma Segura of Glendale, CA. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Lupe Segura, his infant son, Robert Segura 1st, and his dogs, Bronco, Brandy, and Cha Cha.
