Lyle H. Beresford, 97, of Moline, IL, passed away Sunday, June 25, 2017, at Amber Ridge Memory Care, Moline. Funeral services will be 11:00 am Wednesday at Elim Covenant Church, Moline. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Mr. Beresford was born June 9, 1920, in Vinton, IA, the son of John and Ethel Harper Beresford. He was a graduate of Davenport Central High School class of 1939. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII from 1943-46. He married Maurine Hambleton April 11, 1944, in Moline. She died April 9, 2017. He retired from Roycouff Floor Covering in 1984, after 38 years of service. Lyle was a charter member of Elim Covenant Church. He served as church chairman, taught Sunday School, Hi-League Counselor, led Keenagers and sang many beautiful solos. Survivors include his daughters, Carol (Duane) Jacks, Moline, Danielle (Jim) Ogden, East Moline, and Jeanine (Wayne) Allen, Moline; grandchildren, Brad (Delia) Jacks, Hannah (Raul) Solis, and Sarah (James) Ballard; seven great-grandchildren; and a great-great grandson. Memorials may be made to Elim Covenant Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and granddaughter, Christy Jacks, sisters, Jean Ball and Jeanette Frerichs, brother, John Beresford.
