M. Claire McKinzie, 95, of Irving, TX, formerly of East Moline, IL, passed away Tuesday October 3, 2023, in Irving, TX

A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m., Friday, November 3, at Christ United Methodist Church, East Moline, with a memorial visitation one hour prior to services. Burial will be at National Cemetery, Arsenal Island. Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline, is assisting the family with arrangements. Memorials may be made to (DAV) Disabled American Veterans.

Melicent Claire Stoltenberg was born February 27, 1928, in Brooklyn, New York, a daughter of Ben and Anna Krooss Stoltenberg. She married Duane B. "Mac" McKinzie on June 5, 1948, in Iowa City, IA.

Claire was a Speech and English teacher at United Township High School for 17 years.

She is survived by her daughter, Karen McKinzie, Irving, TX; daughter-in-law, Christina McKinzie, North Carolina; four grandchildren, Elizabeth Ward, Meggan McKinzie Quinones (Rene), Austin Ward, Hayley McKinzie Williams (David) and five great-grandchildren, Harper Mahan, Hudson Mahan, Hadley Mahan, Quincy Quinones and Quinton Quinones; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Mac, her son, Brian, brother, Robert Stoltenberg, sister, Mildred Jean Stoltenberg Miletich; brother-in-law, Robert Miletich; and niece, Cheryl Ann Miletich Ramirez.
