Mae Ellen Van Thorre, 83, of East Moline, died Sunday, August 26, 2007 at her home. Visitation will be 4-7PM Tuesday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Graveside services are 9:30 AM Wednesday at Rock Island National Cemetery. Anyone wishing to attend services should meet at the funeral home at 9AM. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or Quad City Animal Welfare Center. Mae was born March 17, 1924 in East Moline to Carl and Maude Watson Clark. She married Keith Dow, and later married Paul Van Thorre, in East Moline. Paul died May 20, 1998. Mae was news editor at the East Moline Herald during WWII. She worked for Judge Walter E. Clark, Clerk of the Circuit Court in East Moline, and retired from the law firm of McGehee, Boling and Whitmire. Survivors (and spouses) include: daughters, Troy Van Thorre-Lueders (Kevin), Toni Pogue (Dr. Charles) of East Moline, Christie Dixon (Ralph) of Moline; grandson, Craig Lenc, Rock Island; granddaughter, Katherine Mae Lenc; great-granddaughter, Abbey Nicole Paillette, Colorado Springs, CO.
