Obituary

Mamie L. Hofstetter 80, Milan, passed away on Friday, February 26, 2016 at home. Memorial services are 1PM Tuesday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Visitation is from 11 AM until service time. Inurnment will follow at Hampton Township Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Avonlea Cottage, Milan. Mamie was born on February 22, 1936 in Davenport, IA, the daughter of Herman and Mamie Rita (Riel) Brown. After graduating from Aledo High School, Mamie went on to study at AIC Business College. After college, she worked at the Farm Bureau and then to Deere & Co. in Moline until 1987 when she retired with 22 years of service. She married Dale Hofstetter on June 11, 1971 in Aledo. She and her husband spent most of their retirement years in Ocala, FL. As a child she attended a one room school, Prairie Rose. She loved to ride her pony, Micky. As a young woman, Mamie made up one third of the Brown Trio with her nieces, Rita and Cherie Brown. They won a first place trophy on WOC-TY's "Golden Opportunity" program in 1952. Survivors include her son Jeff Constant, Illinois City, IL, daughters, Jeri (Tom) Hartman, Mesa, AZ and Pam (Lance) Fuhr, Milan, ten grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 34 years, Dale in 2005 and sisters, Lucille and Irene.
