Funeral services for Marcel "Bob" DeJaegher, 83, of Silvis, IL, will be 11:00 AM Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, East Moline, IL. Burial will be in Hampton Township Cemetery, Hampton, IL. Visitation will be 4-8PM Thursday (today) at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, where a rosary will be recited at 7:30PM. Visitation will also be held from 9:00-10:30AM Friday at the funeral home. Mr. DeJaegher died Wednesday, June 13, 2007 at Genesis Medical Center, Illini Campus, Silvis, IL. Memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Association. Mr. DeJaegher was born December 2, 1923 in Moline, IL, the son of Rene and Zulma (Whittevrongel) DeJaegher. He served in the US Navy during WWII. He married Vera Wendell, August 9, 1942 in Kahoka, MO. She died December 30, 2004. Bob was very active in the Rock Island County Democrat Party for over 40 years. He served on the County Board, was County Board Chairman, Township Supervisor, State Representative of the 72nd District, and Silvis 1st Ward Alderman. Bob was truly devoted to the people of Hampton Township, as seen by the formation of the Hampton Township Health Clinic. Bob was also instrumental in the founding of Illini Hospital, Silvis. Survivors include:, daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia and Duane Steffe, Colona, IL, Renae and Michael Warner, Moline, Michelle and Steve Papish, East Moline, Lori and John Medina, Silvis; sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Kathleen DeJaegher, Virginia Beach, VA, Robert and Rebecca DeJaegher, Moline; 16 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren, sister, Elaine Smith of Hampton. He is preceded in death by his: parents; wife; and brothers, Rene and Joe.
