Marcelle Hozak, 100, East Moline, passed away on August 9, 2025, at Friendship Manor, Rock Island.
Funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, August 15, 2025, at Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline. Visitation will be one hour prior to service. Burial will be at Rock Island National Cemetery.
Marcelle "Marce" Hozak was born on July 8, 1925, in St. Joseph, Tennessee. She was the daughter of Isaac and Elizabeth Quillen Hudson. She married Philip J. Hozak on January 23, 1945, in Toledo, Ohio. She worked for Save Electric in Toledo winding filaments for light bulbs. She moved to the Quad Cities area in 1961. She then worked at Interstate News and Rock Island Arsenal. She was an avid quilter and crafter, sharing her gifts with family and friends. She was a member of the Solo Steppers Square Dancing Club, First United Methodist Church, Port Byron, Eastern Star, Catfish Jazz Society, and C.A.S.I. where she taught line dancing for many years.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Laura Hozak, Matherville, IL; grandson, Matthew Hozak, East Moline; several nieces and nephews; and her cherished friend and neighbor, Beverly Smith. She was preceded by her husband, Phil; her parents; stepfather, Bill Pruitt; and sister, Flavil Clark.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to C.A.S.I., Davenport, IA or the Catfish Jazz Society.
A special thank you to the staff of Friendship Manor and Heartland Hospice, especially Shelby and Santana, for their special care of Marce.
