Funeral services for Marcus J. De La Rosa, 89, of Silvis will be 10 AM Friday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline. Burial will be in Rock Island National Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-7 PM Thursday at the funeral home, where a rosary will be recited at 3pm. Mr. De La Rosa passed away Saturday, January 13, 2024, at his home at New Perspectives, Silvis.

Marcus was born April 25, 1934, in Silvis, the son of Joe and Bernarda Martel De La Rosa. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He married JoAnne Mallicoat September 22, 1962. He retired from John Deere Harvester, after 40 years of service. He was a hard worker and a proud UAW Local 865 member. Marcus loved his wife and family dearly. He enjoyed working with his hands, whether it was shade-tree mechanic, woodworking or projects around the house (electrical, plumbing, or painting.) He enjoyed fishing and would go every chance he could. He would take the entire family camping with 8 kids and 2 weeks out in the woods – Good Times!

Survivors include his children, Cynthia (Chris) Moreno, WI, Todd (Sarah) De La Rosa, Moline, Karin (Mark) McKinney, Rock Island, Steve (Lisa) De La Rosa, Collinsville, Denise De La Rosa, Moline, Diane (Mike) Hilburn, Polo; and Darcy De La Rosa, Moline; 18 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and 1 on the way; brother, Tony (Trudy) De La Rosa. East Moline, and Robert (Sal) De La Rosa, Milan, brother-in-law, Red Ponce, Silvis.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, JoAnne; daughter, Tracy De La Rosa; and sisters, Valentine Ponce and Jeannie Padilla.

Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society or Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
