Funeral services for Margaret Monstrey, 92, East Moline, are 10AM Wednesday, August 8, 2012 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Silvis. Burial is in St. Mary's Cemetery, East Moline. Visitation is 4-7PM Tuesday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, where a rosary will be recited at 4PM. Memorials may be made to the ARC of the Quad City Area or Alleman High School. She died Tuesday, August 1, 2012 at her home. Margaret Vormezeele was born on August 13, 1919 in Muscatine County, IA, the daughter of Leon and Clementine (Vyncke) Vormezeele. She married Marcel Monstrey on December 28, 1940 at St. Mary's Church, East Moline. Marcel died July 25, 1972. Margaret was employed as a cook at the United Township High School Cafeteria and also did catering and other domestic jobs. Margaret was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in East Moline until it closed in 2009. She then joined Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Silvis. She was a member of the Women's Catholic Order of Foresters and St. Rita's Altar Society. She was a member of the Moline Two Rivers YMCA for 37 years and was an early morning swimmer. She enjoyed her family, children, grandchildren and her great-grandchildren. Survivors include her children Sally (George) Wadsager, East Moline, Lois (Dennis) Pauley, Rock Island, and David (Kathy) Monstrey, Traverse City, MI, eleven grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and her brother Robert Vormezeele, Durand, IL. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, sister Clara, brother Donald and infant brother Frank. The family would like the thank the staff of Park Vista and Trinity Pathway Hospice for their exceptional care and compassion shown to Margaret.
