Margaret (Moore) Reed, 101, formerly of East Moline, died Thursday, January 16, 2014 at Iowa Masonic Health Facilities, Bettendorf, IA. Funeral services are 11 AM Tuesday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Burial is in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visitation is 1 hour prior to services. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project. Margaret Verstraete was born on February 27, 1912 in Moline, IL, the daughter of Cyriel and Lena (Versluis) Verstraete. Margaret attended Sacred Heart Catholic School, Moline. She married Wayne Moore in 1931 in Rock Island, and Howard Reed in 1973 in Rock Island, both preceding her in death. She was a loving wife, mother, daughter, grandmother, great grandmother and sister. She was employed at Bituminous Casualty Corp and was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church, and a loyal member of the Friends Circle Club, Moline. She was an avid card player, pie baker, and loved to dance. She was a homemaker who loved filling her world with laughter. She and Howard spent their later years wintering in Arizona, meeting new friends and sharing new experiences. She also loved playing the slots and visiting race tracks. In her many years, Margaret touched many lives with her laughter and kindness, and will be greatly missed by many. A special thanks for the kindness and care she received as a resident of Iowa Masonic Health Facilities. She is survived by her daughter Karen Belyea, Colorado Springs, CO, son and daughter-in-law Larry and Penny Moore, Bettendorf, her loving grandchildren, Tom Belyea, Amsterdam, Netherlands, Paige Belyea, Ft. Collins, CO, Kim (Shannon) Budde, Eldridge, IA, and Krista (Jason) Buntemeyer, Bettendorf, great grandchildren, Jack Boling, Ella Budde, and Lena and Lucas Buntemeyer and her sister Anna Marie DeCrane, Atkinson, IL. In addition to losing her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents and five sisters.
