Margaret I. Smith, 93, East Moline, passed away on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at Hope Creek Care Center, East Moline. Funeral services are 12 Noon Wednesday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Visitation is 11 AM until service time. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital. Margaret was born on January 22, 1924 in East Moline, the daughter of Robert J. and Julia (VanDeVelde) Horn Sr. Margaret had worked at Staacks Florist Moline and Strombeck & Becker. She married Vernon "Smitty" Smith on March 13, 1948 in Galesburg, IL. He died August 12, 2014. Margaret enjoyed gardening, was an excellent cook, and devoted her life to being a loving homemaker. She had been a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great great grandmother, who adored the little ones. Survivors include her children, Nadine (Dan) Priebe, Hillsdale, IL, and Linda Taylor, Silvis; son, Kenneth Womack, Silvis; grandchildren, Djana Womack, Michele Womack, Tonya Womack, Darrell (Cheryl) Priebe, Pamela (John) Carius, and Kristen (Joseph) McLean; granddaughter-in-law, Teresa Womack; 25 great grandchildren; and 19 great great grandchildren and one on the way, and siblings, Richard Horn, South Dakota and Barbara Lee Irvin, Carbon Cliff. She was preceded in death by her parents, 4 siblings, grandson Darren Womack, son-in-law Jerry Taylor and daughter-in-law Patricia Womack.
