Funeral services for Marguerite Dargie Johnson, 80, of Carbon Cliff, IL, will be at noon on Friday, August 2, 2024, at Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline, IL. Burial will be in Rock Island National Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until noon at the funeral home, where a rosary will be recited at 10:30 a.m. Marguerite peacefully passed away with family on Thursday, July 25, 2024.

Marguerite Dargie was born December 17, 1943, in Moline, IL, the daughter of James and Florence Venas Dargie. She graduated from Alleman High School in 1961. She began her career in accounting at Alcoa and then worked at the John Deere Administration Center where she retired in 2001 after 31 years. Marguerite loved her three dogs and was never one to not take in a dog or cat that needed food and a home. She enjoyed traveling with Gary and spending time with family.

Marguerite married John Roby in 1964, and they had one son, James Roby (Annette), Moline. They shared two grandchildren, Alaynna Roby (Ryan Covemaker), Moline, and Jameson Roby (Brandi), Moline, and two great-grandchildren, Mya and Jaxson, Moline. Another great-grandson, Myles, is due in October.

Marguerite married Gary R. Johnson in 1975 and opened her heart to Gary's six children; Michael Johnson, Arlington, IA, JoLana (Randy) Thein, Arlington, IA, Gary Dean Johnson (deceased), Waterloo, IA, Eric Johnson, Albany, IL, Charles (Danette) Johnson, Silvis, and Tammy (Terry) Wallace, Milan. Marguerite and Gary shared 8 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.

Grandma Rite will be greatly missed.
