Funeral services for Maria A. Schacht, 104, formerly of Silvis, IL, will be 1:00 pm Saturday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, IL. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery, Moline, IL. Visitation will be 11:00 am - 1:00 pm Saturday at the funeral home. Mrs. Schacht died Tuesday, October 4, 2016, at Lutheran Living, Muscatine, IA. Maria was born February 11, 1912, in Adegem, Belgium, the daughter of Charles and Gabriella Jacobmine Merci. She married Leslie Nelson. She later married Herman Schacht. She had been a supervisor for both F.W. Means, Rock Island, IL, and Gibberman's, Rock Island. She had been a volunteer at Illini Hospital for 18 years. She received the Volunteer of the Year Award in 2005. She was an avid bowler and at age 91 she bowled a 237 game. Survivors include her granddaughter, Sandy (Mark) Hoopes, Muscatine; 2 great grandchildren; 6 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughter and son-in-law, Marian and Len Ballegeer, infant granddaughter, Sharon Ballegeer, and granddaughter, Marsha Stoner. Memorials may be made to St. Judes.
