Funeral services for Marian Pauline DeTaeye Austin, 88, East Moline, are 10 AM Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, East Moline. Entombment is in St. Mary's Mausoleum, East Moline. Visitation is 4-7 PM Wednesday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, where a rosary will be recited at 4 PM. Mrs. Austin died Sunday, March 13, 2005 at Rosewood Care Center, Moline. Memorials may be made to St. Mary's Church, East Moline. Marian was born August 19, 1916 in Moline, the daughter of Alphonse and Mary (Braet) DeTaeye. She loved people, ideas and books. She believed that being kind and fair were high and noble values. She graduated from St. Mary's Grade School, East Moline, the class of 1934 at UTHS and graduated from St. Ambrose College in 1939. Marian was a librarian at the East Moline Public Library during the 1930's and at UTHS North Campus from 1962-1984. Survivors include a daughter Molly (Mike) Flaherty, Denver, CO, sons William (Pauline) Austin, Napa Valley, CA and Mike (Darla) Austin, East Moline, grandchildren Brett Calvert Austin, Alec Michael Austin, Althea Flaherty and Abigail Flaherty, sister Theresa (Les) Schotka, East Moline, and a sister-in-law Joan DeTaeye, East Moline Her brother William "Bill" DeTaeye precedes her in death.
