Marian L. Ballegeer 81, formerly of Silvis, passed away on Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at Valley View Manor, Muscatine, IA. Funeral services are 10:30 AM Saturday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Burial is in Roselawn Memorial Estate, Moline. Visitation is 9 AM until service time. Memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital. Marian was born September 20, 1931 in Moline, the only child of Leslie and Maria (Merci) Nelson. She married Leonard G. Ballegeer on May 5, 1950 in Moline. He died on April 13, 2008. Mrs. Ballegeer had volunteered for the Illini Hospital Auxiliary. She was a member of the Silvis United Methodist Church. She had been very active at her church and had made over 700 rugs for various church fundraisers. Survivors include her mother Maria Schacht, Muscatine. daughter, Sandra (Mark) Hoopes, Muscatine, grandchildren, Ashley (Jeremy) Polzin and Nichole (Bill) Gable, and great grandchildren, Aubrey, Gabriella, Harper and Noah. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her father, and daughters, Marcia Stoner in 2003 and Sharon who died at 3 months of age.
