Marian Katherine (Chidester) De Doncker, born September 23, 1914, in East Moline, IL, passed away Sunday, December 23rd, at her daughter's home in Pasco, WA. She was surrounded by her two daughters, her son-in-law, and several grandchildren. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Wednesday, January 2, 2007 at St. Anne Catholic Church, East Moline. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, East Moline. Visitation will be 2:00-5:00PM Tuesday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, where a rosary will be recited at 2:00PM. Marian attended McKinley grade school and graduated from UTHS in 1932. In high school she was president of GAA and captain of her basketball team sharing the honors with lifelong friend Mabel Maskel. Following high school she entered nurses training and graduated in 1936. She worked at the East Moline State Hospital for 30 years and retired as a psychiatric supervisor. She married Joseph J. De Doncker at St. Mary's Catholic Church in East Moline on October 24, 1936. They were married 53 years. She enjoyed being with her family and grandchildren, swimming, crocheting, and playing any type of cards, especially bridge. She belonged to St. Monica's Guild at St. Anne's Church in East Moline and several card clubs. She enjoyed all of her clubs and loved all of the members. She is survived by Jo Ann Gruninger (daughter) Willow Grove, PA, and grandchildren Julia, Joseph, Jeffrey, James, and Jeremy, and Mary Katherine Bravard (daughter), Pasco, WA, and husband, David, and grandchildren Mary Beth, Barbara, John, Kathleen, and Theresa, and their spouses and children. Marian also had 32 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceeded in death by Joseph De Doncker (husband), Joseph Gruninger (son-in-law), Joan Gruninger and Daniel Bravard (grandchildren), and 1 brother and 3 sisters.
