Marian Dorothy Strandgard, 89, of Hampton, IL passed away Wednesday, October 26, 2016, at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf, Iowa. Funeral services will be 11:00AM Wednesday, November 2, 2016, at Zion Lutheran Church, East Moline, IL. Interment will be at the Rock Island National Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-7PM Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline. Memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran Church. Marian was born March 16, 1927, in Moline the daughter of John and Millie Schurvinski VanderBeke. She graduated from United Township High School, class of 1945. Marian married Richard Strandgard, July 1, 1962, in Rapids City, IL. He preceded her in death on July 30, 2014. Marian was a telephone operator for the former Illinois Bell Telephone Co., Moline and worked for John Deere Harvester Works in East Moline. She retired from Pinks School Bus Service in the late 1980's as a driver for the Hampton School District. She looked forward to her monthly lunches with her friends. Marian enjoyed flower gardening, feeding birds, bowling and was an avid Cubs fan. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church for over 40 years. Marian is survived by her children and (spouses): Diana Strandgard of Camanche, IA; Deborah (Scott) Raes of Moline, and Alan (Linda) Strandgard of Battle Creek, MI; four grandchildren: Jennifer (Todd) Hansen, Scott (Courtney Corelis) Raes, Levi and Zach Strandgard; one sister: Marjorie Kipp of Hampton and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband Richard, she is preceded in death by her grandson, Michael Raes.
