Maricela Rangel Cervantes, 55, Rock Island, passed away on Saturday, January 18, 2014 at her home, surrounded by her family. A funeral mass will be 10AM Wednesday at St. Pius X, Rock Island. Inurnment will be in St. Mary's Mausoleum. Visitation is 4-7 PM Tuesday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, with a rosary will be recited at 3PM. A time of sharing will be 7PM. Maricela was born April 22, 1958 in Moline, the daughter of Henry and Teresa Salas Rangel. She married Richard Cervantes on March 30, 1991 in Las Vegas, NV. She worked at the Family Resourse Center in Davenport. Maricela loved the game of soccer, playing for Moline Stingers, and coached for the Rock Island Girls Soccer Club. She also played softball for Rudy's Tacos team. Maricela truly enjoyed attending the sporting events of her grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was very loving, supportive and giving. Survivors include her husband Richard, son, Mundo Rey (Christina) Boyer, Rock Island, step children Rick Cervantes and Lisa (Andy) Johnson, eleven grandchildren, her parents, Henry and Teresa Rangel, Moline, and siblings, Sylvia, Theresa, Henrietta, Henry (Jr.), Jane, Rosemary, Adrianna, Rosario, Claudia and Maria.
