Funeral services for Marie "Mary" Raiche, 83, East Moline, are 10AM Wednesday Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Burial is in Oakdale Cemetery, Davenport. Visitation is 4-7PM Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to St. Mark's Anglican Church, Silvis. Mary died Friday, August 6, 2010 at Genesis Medical Center-Illini Campus, Silvis, as a result of an automobile accident. Marie Gargano was born March 17, 1927 in Silvis, IL, the daughter of James and Marie (Rando) Gargano. She married Richard Raiche on January 14, 1950 in Marengo, IA. She had worked at John Deere Harvester in East Moline and later for 37 years at the former Iowa-Illinois Gas and Electric Company, Davenport. Mary enjoyed trips to Chicago to purchase various foods at the Italian markets which was why she was such an excellent Italian cook. Every year she attended the "Italian Feast" in Chicago over the Labor Day holiday. She loved watching or listening to Chicago Cubs play, as well as watching High school, college basketball and the Super Bowl. She would wait throughout the year until her favorite show" Dancing with the Stars" would come on the T.V. Her favorite T.V. host was Larry King. She would always reminisce about her dancing days at the Col Ballroom and listening to the Big Bands that came through the Quad-Cities. Her favorite musical artists were Andre Rieu, Tony Bennett, Andre Bochelli, and always, always Frank Sinatra who she saw in person with her Grand-daughter Jessica. Her favorite concert of all was when she got to see Brooks and Dunn. She was a good neighbor to everyone and supported numerous charities for the disadvantaged. In addition, she supported all organizations the saved the lives of animals due to her surmounting love for her dogs. Her love for her daughter and Grand-daughter extended to the most beloved person to her in the entire world which was her Great-Granddaughter Savanna, whom, she adored. To Mary, Savanna was the Bright Star she placed all her hopes and dreams in. Survivors include her husband Richard, East Moline, daughter Dyan Avanti, Rock Island, granddaughter and her husband Jessica and Marshall Douglas II, Moline, great granddaughter Savanna Douglas and brothers; Joseph Gargano, Silvis and Carl Gargano, Moline.
