Marilyn Ikerd was born October 12, 1927 in Davenport, Iowa to Floyd and Ina Caudill Ikerd. She graduated from Moline High School, where she was a drum majorette with the school's marching band. In 1947, she married the love of her life, Robert K. Glaudel. She was a dedicated and loving mother to her 2 daughters, Linda McGraw and Sandy Hirstein. She was involved in Mother's Club, was a girl scout leader and actively participated in all of her daughters' activities. Marilyn was an avid seamstress and loved making clothing and costumes for her children and grandchildren. Marilyn joined Deere and Company in 1963. After completing her associate degree at Blackhawk College, she was promoted to the position of Administrative Secretary in the Market Economics Department. She was an active member of the Professional Secretaries International at both the local and division level and also earned the certificate of Certified Professional Secretary. After retiring in 1984, she treasured time spent golfing and traveling with her husband. Marilyn experienced a number of health issues in the last fifteen years but defied all odds by surviving 3 aneurysms. Not only was her story reported in the newspaper and documented online, but the entire Critical Care Staff at Genesis referred to her as the "Miracle Patient." In the past several years, as her health declined, her greatest joy was spending time talking and sharing memories with her husband Robert of 64 years. Anyone who knew them, knew they were inseparable. Those left to honor her memory are her husband, daughters Linda McGraw, Rock Island and Sandy (Dan) Hirstein, Davenport. She had 4 grandchildren, Jennifer (Steve) Hughes, Colona, Kate (Brian) Frank, LeClaire, Kimberly (Nick) Lesniak, Orland Park, and Christopher (Katie) McGraw, Bloomington. She also had 7 great-grandchildren and was eagerly looking forward to the birth of twin girls in January. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Jean Kyrk. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sacred Heart Church in Moline. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.vanhoe.com
