Funeral services for Marilyn S. Purvis, 82, of Silvis, IL, will be 2:00 pm Wednesday at Homewood Evangelical Church, Moline, IL. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation will be 4:00-7:00 pm Tuesday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Mrs. Purvis died Saturday, July 11, 2015, at Illini Restorative Care Center, Silvis. Marilyn Nelson was born May 12, 1933, in Moline, the daughter of Harold and Ardis Patrick Nelson. She married Gerald Purvis March 8, 1952, in Rock Island, IL. He died in 2008. She had been the assistant and activities director at Happy Haven Nursing Home, Silvis, and Oak Glenn Nursing Home, Coal Valley, IL. Marilyn loved her Lord, her family, and her church family. She enjoyed camping, being around people and was a prayer warrior at church. Survivors include her sons, Gene (Sandy) Purvis, East Moline, and Terry Purvis, Fouke, AR; grandchildren, Greg (Carrie) Purvis, Steve (Amanda) Purvis, James "Mick" Purvis, and Alex Purvis; 3 great grandchildren; brother, Harold (Buelah) Nelson, Maryland Heights, MO; sister-in-law, Barbara Nelson, Davenport, IA; special friend, Karen Feather, Moline. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Gerald Purvis Jr.; sister, Dorothy Nelson; and brother, Kenneth Nelson.
