Funeral services for Marion E. Bostrom, 85, of East Moline, IL, will be 10:00 AM Monday at St. Anne Catholic Church, East Moline. Burial will be at the National Cemetery, Rock Island, IL. Visitation will be 2:30-5:00PM Sunday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, where a rosary will be recited at 2:00PM. Mrs. Bostrom died Thursday, July 31, 2008 at Clarrisa C. Cook Hospice House Bettendorf, IA. Memorials may be made to St. Anne Catholic Church, where she had been a member for 60 years or The ARC of South East Iowa. Marion DeDoncker was born December 24, 1922 in East Moline, the daughter of Leonard and Valentine (Landuyt) DeDoncker. She served in the US Navy during WWII. During the war she obtained the rank of Yeoman, First Class and had been the Assistant to the Base Commander at Norfolk, VA. She was employed as a secretary at the Arsenal and John Deere Plow Works, prior to her marriage. She married Roy A. Bostrom November 25, 1948 at St. Anne Catholic Church, East Moline. She had been an active volunteer both at her church and in the community. She had been President of the East Moline Junior Women's Club, Den Mother of the local Cub Scout Troop, and served as a leader for the local Girl Scout Troop for 8 years. She had been instrumental in starting the Gift Shop at Illini Hospital. She also volunteered her time working at the Gift Shops at the former Illini and Moline Public Hospitals with 41 years of Auxiliary service. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Roy Bostrom of East Moline; daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Beth and Charles Cybul of Riverside, IL, Jane and William Reagan of Moline, IL; son and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey and Jody Bostrom of Moline; grandchildren, John Bostrom, Meg Bostrom, Stephanie Reagan, and Thomas Bostrom. She is preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Anne Maertens, Martha Gober, Bertha Bergstrand, and Alice DeDoncker. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.vanhoe.com
