Funeral services for Marjorie Mae "Marge" Hellgren, 85, of Silvis, IL will be 10:00 AM Monday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, IL. Burial will be in National Cemetery, Rock Island, IL. Visitation will be 2-5 PM Sunday at the funeral home. Mrs. Hellgren died Thursday, September 13, 2007 at Genesis Medical Center, Illini Campus, Silvis, IL. Memorials may be to the Hampton Historical Society or The Hampton Methodist Church, Hampton. Marjorie Griffin was born March 16, 1922 in Moline, IL, the daughter of Ralph and Myrtle (Nelson) Griffin. She had served in the US Navy during WWII as a Wave. She married Harold Hellgren August 16, 1947 in East Moline. She retired in 1983 from the former AMETEK, Temecula, CA. While living in Hampton she was an active member of the Hampton Methodist Church, where she had been a Sunday school teacher, Girl Scout leader and member of the Young Adults Society. She loved boating and spent many hours traveling the Mississippi River. She enjoyed doing crafts, crossword puzzles and she was a Die Hard Cub Fan. She loved dancing to big band and country music. Survivors include: her husband of 60 years, Harold Hellgren of Silvis; sisters and brothers-in-law, Pearl Tank of Silvis, Ferne and Art Gaumer of Port Byron, IL, Judy and Larry Liedtke of Colona, IL; several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Eleanor Moss, Barbara Nielson, brothers, Ralph Griffin Jr., Floyde Griffin.
