Funeral services for Marjorie J. Holtschlag, 85, Moline, are 10 AM Friday at Christ the King Catholic Church, Moline. Burial is in Moline Memorial Park Cemetery, where the East Moline American Legion Post 227 will conduct military honors. Visitation is 4-7 PM Thursday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, where a rosary will be read at 4PM. Margie died Sunday, August 14, 2005 at Genesis Medical Center-Illini Campus, Silvis. A memorial fund has been established. Marjorie Larson was born October 25, 1919 in East Moline, the daughter of Clarence and Alfaretta Allsbrow Larson. She married Ralph "Mike" Holtschlag, March 20, 1948 in Rock Island. He died January 31, 1979. She graduated from U.T.H.S. in 1937. She worked for the former Deere & Mansur before enlisting for 17 months as a storekeeper in the U.S. Navy, during WWII. Margie had worked as a legal secretary and investigator for several area government agencies. She had served as City Clerk in Las Vegas, Nevada. She and her husband owned and operated the former Mike's Tavern on 7th Street, Moline. She was a member of the East Moline American Legion and the Moline Vikings. Survivors include daughter and son-in-law Ann and Robert Choate, East Moline, seven grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, sisters-in-laws and families Josette Larson, East Moline and Florence Crouch, Carbon Cliff, and special friends Ruth Quinn and Gloria Fiems. Her husband, parents Clarence Larson, and Alfaretta and Leslie Shinnick, brother Robert Larson, nephew Robert Larson precede her in death.
